Yeah, the National Debt Clock in New York ran out of digits a few days ago, so they converted the $ to a 1.

The clock, located in Times Square in New York, shows the amount of money owed by the US government. It was created by the late Manhattan real estate developer Seymour Durst, who put the sign up in 1989 to call attention to what was then a $2.7 trillion debt.

The Durst Organization says it plans to update the sign next year by adding two digits. That will make it capable of tracking debt up to a quadrillion dollars.

Note that as of Oct 7, 2008 the debt is $10,224,252,192,942.42.

And the irony of the cleverly or not so cleverly set up system is, If there was no debt, there'd be no money. Referenced from a google video about the very thing.

I know which Google video you are talking about, and you are either mis- or over-interpreting it. Not ALL money is created simultaneously with a debt, just a lot of it is - too much.
