As I mentioned in a previous post, I have an XBOX360 ARCADE unit that I won a year ago from John's Incredible Pizza Company (oh,. how I miss their Mac & Cheese Pizza!)

The problem is that the New XBOX Experience (NXE) requries 126MB of storage for the update.

CORE and ARCADE units didn't come with a Hard Drive, so the CORE people were stuck with a 64MB Memory Card (MC), and ARCADE owners were stuck with a 256MB MC.  In the case of CORE, there just wasn't enough room for the update. In the case of ARCADE, most owners have way less than 128MB free on their MCs.  In any case, the NXE upgrade would work better from HD than the MC.

So Microsoft has the "XBOX360 Memory Upgrade" program for CORE and ARCADE owners.

For ARCADE owners like myself, we have the opportunity to upgrade to a 20GB Refurb HD (+ 3mo XBOXLive Gold) for $29.95 (+tax).

For CORE owners, they could either get a 256MB MC for free or a 20GB Refurb HD (w/o LIVE) for apx $20 (+ tax)

I was fortunate to be able to get the HD upgrade and it arrived yesterday.

Inside the box was a bubblewrapped 20GB Refurb HD and an envelope (ok, there was some packing material and an invoice too)

Inside the envelope was a thank you letter, and a HD install letter, along with a 3mo XBOXLive Gold card.

I instaled the HD last night, but since my TV is about 50 ft from my router (and I don't have WiFi for my XBOX360) I waited until this afternoon to hookit up to the TV and run a network cable to it.

It started up OK, and then told me it had to do an update.  I said OK and about 3-4 minutes later it rebooted.  It then told me that it needed to do the NXE update, so I said OK and about 30 minutes later it prompted for a reboot.. So about 35 minutes after hooking it up, I get to see the NXE Intro.. AWESOME... next "Sign In" screen pops up, and then over that a "Insert Controller" screen.

BUH!

See, I can't find my xbox controller =/  I was using a USB keyboard before and it was working ok.

No go on NXE.. must have controller plugged in to go sign in =/

Well, I finally get out of the sign in screen and play with the "swooshing" and rotating menu system a bit, but really can't do anything until I can sign in.

Major disappointment =(

So, it looks cool, and sounds cool... the NXE update seemed to work.. now I just have to wait until I can afford to buy an XBOX360 controller =/

BUH.

Dear Santa,

Please bring me the followng items for my XBOX360.
  1. XBOX360 Controller (charger pack nice but not required)
  2. XBOX360 VGA Cable (the one with the 3.5mm sound adapter, plz)
  3. XBOX360 WiFi Adapter

Oh, if you have any Netflix Gift Cards, that would be nice too. (The $8.99/mo 1DVD plan is perfect.)

Thank you.

Sincerely,

RAD Moose

PS. Say Hi to Blitzen for me ;-)

So, I won a XBOX360 Arcade a year ago (from John's Incredible Pizza Company in Roseville, CA)

Now with the New Xbox Experience just being released, the Arcade doesn't have enough memory to download the 'upgrade' unless I want to use a large chunk of the memory card they included =(

I heard that CORE users were offered a $20 20GB HD Upgrade (+tax/free shipping) but that was just for CORE users (the predecessor to the ARCADE). However, I wasn't sure what they were they were going to offer ARCADE users since they are still selling the same unit this Christmas (albeit with an extra game or two) but I thought I would at least check.

So I fired up the eggzbox360 and got the console ID and serial number from the current interface, went to the XBOX360 Memory Upgrade page at xbox.com and entered the codes.

WOOHOO!!!! 20GB HD (refurb) Upgrade AND a 3 Month XBOX Live Gold card for $29.95 (+ tax / free shipping.)

Not a bad deal since the refurb HDs are going for about $50 and 3mo live is $14.95 I think.

I was thinking that I would have to spend $99 for the pretty cool 60GB HD Live Upgrade (includes headphones and 3 mo live)

So, if you hoof a CORE or ARCADE XBOX360 that you haven't already upgraded, grab the Console ID and Serial Number and head over to xbox.com!

I will post when it gets here. (and thanks to the person who paid for it!)  *mogerhugs*

Oh.. I will also post soon how to use a $17 802.11G Router/AccessPoint from Frys as a XBOX360 WiFi Adapter.  Works pretty well, but takes some work to get it to use some networks.  The 'official' one is much easier to setup but it is also $99 MSRP!

.... any know where I can get an official Microsoft XBOX360 VGA cable cheap?  I need one that also has the adapter to 3.5mm plug so I can use my speakers....

As in my last post, I scored an XBOX360 ARCADE from John's Incredible Pizza Company! Yay me!

It came with 5 xboxlive arcade games including Pac-Man Championship Edition and UNO, as well as a few demos on the game disk included.  The ARCADE edition does not have a hard drive and includes a memory card.  So I was over at my ex-wife's house with teh squids so we fired it up and got it going.  Setup local accounts for K1 and K2, and a xboxlive silver account for K3.  I also linked my gamertag (rmoose) to it so I now have a xboxlive silver acccount.

I did win a handful of 48 hour "trial" xbox gold codes, so I will probably use those at sometime before trying to save up for a gold account subscription.

Downside.. the TV in the living room does not have composite inputs, only coaxial. The cables for the console are composite.

So I have a pretty cool looking eggsbox in my living room... just don't expect to come over and play.  =P

Hello... and welcome to my LiveJournal. OK, so you hoof probably been here before.

Just remembered that this weekend was the 21st Annual Stockton Asparagus Festival. Now, normally, Mogers do not like it, but I remember going about 8-9 years ago and hoofing a good time and eating some interesting asparagus stuff, so I was hoping to be able to go again. Maybe next year.

In a couple weeks is CaliFur. I hope to at least to get to go for the weekend to see some of my furiends in the area.

Went to the Sacramento 49'er Truck Stop today and ate at the Silver Skillet (pretty good.) The parking lot was packed, so I was worried that it would be crowded but there was only a few people inside. The rest of the people were in the large back parking lot where the Northern Truck Driving Championship was being held. First time I hoof been there, and there were lots of interesting people. I was going to wear my tail but was talked out of it (buh).

All the exciting categories... Straight Truck, Flat-Bed Division, 3-Axle Division, 4-Axle Division, Doubles, 5-Axle Division, Tanker, Sleeper, and Package Delivery. The 4- and 5- axle divisions were competing while I was there. Got to see the FexEx Ground NASCAR race car up close... was kinda cool.

This week has been pretty good. As far as going out and doing stuff, it was definately quality not quantity. *happy moger dance* Been busy at work, trying to get stuff online, updated, fixed... it is an interesting work environment and I have hoofing fun. Now if I can just get someone to come down and go out to the yard and find a starter compatible with my car for me :-)

I had a great talk with a furiend about stuff... and made me think about a lot of things. Such as I have some personal and financial stuff that I need to focus on. I shouldn't worry that I have limited interactions with others and that I don't have a BF, and stuff like that. Focus on the immediate, enjoy what I have, and work out my future plans. Now, that doesn't mean turning down opportunities for friends and such... just don't focus so much on it.

Now I am hoofing an interesting talk about God with another furiend. Don't fear death. Don't rush into it either. Enjoy what you have and make the best of it. There isn't Fate, just direction. Life is a obstable course, take your time to make the right decisions and you will have more fun.

BTW, At my wake, I would like everyone to have a good time. I know it is really for the furiends and relatives (since I won't be attending).. but can McDonald's Happy Meals be served? That way everyone gets some food, has some fun, and a cool toy to take home. Much better than just a pamphlet with my face on it, some dates, some words and maybe a few Ferris Bueller quotes. =)

I used to think I would die in my 50s. I want to be 103 (at least)....well, actually I was thinking more like 138+ because it would be kinda cool to make it to the 22nd Century. One of my favorite years is 2121 but I am not sure if I want to be living for over 159 years. =)

If you want to have some moger time, I sometimes have Monday nights, Wednesday night, Friday nights, Saturday (various times) and Sunday afternoons available. But don't worry about my schedule.. I am spontaneous. Call, txt, msg, IM, email, write...whatever and let me know if you want to hang out with a moger somewhere (or at my house) for awhile. Sometimes I can and sometimes I can't.

If anyone has a 2007 Saturn Sky that would let me drive it one or even ride in it once, I would be a very happy moger. OK... I already am a very happy moger...yeah.

Oh, a few days ago, McDonalds said they were teaming up with a fitness company to sell exercise DVDs at its US restaurants with the launch of its new "happy meals" for adults. It is partnering with responDESIGN, the publisher of Yourself!Fitness, a video game focused on health and fitness. Under the partnership, McDonald’s will sell exclusive Yourself!Fitness DVDs in the United States from April 25 to May 22 with the introduction of its new Go Active! Happy meal for adults. The DVDs will feature a virtual personal trainer and offer 15-minute workouts. Each will focus on a specific program, including yoga, cardio, core strengthening and strength building.

Now, why dont' they include some prOn DVDs in their "Adult Happy Meals"... that would make a lot of adults very happy =) "I'm Lovin' It!"

"Is that happy meal for straight, gay, bi, lesbian or couples?"

I like Napster.

My birthday is in a month (May 23). Amazon gift cards are accepted by mogers =) OK, yeah, I would really like an xbox360 or a notebook or other stuff, but I can't afford that right now.

Some of the things a moger likes from A-Z

This was on my screen for over 2 hours... kept editing and adding to it while talking with some furiends.

Yeah, I am RAnDOm.
