Churches are not supposed to support any political position and maintain their tax-exempt status.. be it a proposition or a candidate. They can suggest to their congregation to vote, and that is all.
BJU has had many run ins with the IRS and they really try to push it to the limit. There has been rumors of them being classified as a cult, which would also cut the tax exempt status.
A church CAN say that they BELIEVE a marriage should only be between a man and a woman. A church does NOT have to marry anyone that they don't want to.
The man I talked to would not give out where he was from, as I figured that it was so his church would not be connected to the protest.
I still haven't found a decent argument (or even a few points) on why "Yes On 8"...
Heck, as much as I am scared about Palin, at least you can come up with a good point or two about her (although I doubt it would overshadow her moose hunting...grrr) =P
